Note for Bitcask users

If you are a Bitcask user using Bitcask's object expiry feature, there is a bug affecting Bitcask merges. That bug can be addressed with this patch for version 2.0.0. This patch will be included in the 2.0.1 release of Riak. Add the linked .beam file to the /lib/basho-patches directory on each node and restart the node. Bitcask merges should proceed as normal after that.

For more comprehensive documentation on using patches, see Basho Patches.

JVM Installation (for Riak Search)

If you will be using Riak Search in your Riak installation, you will also need to install a version of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that is capable of running Solr, the Java application undergirding Riak Search.

Client Libraries

Basho currently offers official Riak client libraries for Java, Ruby, Python, and Erlang.

We recommend installing Oracle's JDK 7u25. Installation packages can be found on the Java SE 7 Downloads page and instructions on the documentation page.
